The flame of the single candle flickered as a draught blew in from the small, round window. Hannah rubbed her arms in an attempt to stop the goosebumps from raising on her pale flesh. She exhaled shakily and watched her breath cloud in the crisp air. It was cold. The two girls sat across from each other on the bed that Hannah and her currently absent twin, Grace, shared. Hannah awoke Clara as soon as she realised that the space next to her was cold and very empty. Her older sister hardly seemed bothered by the harsh temperature. Clara glared at the wall behind Hannah with such intensity that Hannah was amazed it did not crumble. A small whi
